You know the feeling all too well—fatigue, a fever, a runny nose and sore throat. Whether you’re dealing with a cold or the flu, the last thing you want is to be slowed down by illness.

One of the best ways to strengthen your immune system to help fight off infections is IV Immunity Therapy. This can be a useful tool for both preventing and shortening the duration of cold and flu symptoms.

Keep reading to learn how IV Drip Therapy, and specifically our Cold & Flu IV Drip, can help deliver the potent mix of nutrients, vitamins and minerals needed to support your immune system during cold and flu season.

What You Need To Know:

  • IV therapy administers nutrients straight into the bloodstream for quicker absorption and uptake.
  • Immune-supportive nutrients, such as Vitamin C, Glutathione, Zinc and B Complex, are crucial for the immune system and may help support recovery or reduce the risk of infection.1
  • Always use treatment under medical supervision and in conjunction with healthy habits.

What Is IV Therapy and How Does It Work?

IV therapy, or intravenous therapy, is a medical procedure that administers nutrients, vitamin infusions, fluids and medications directly into a vein (typically in the arm). This method enables quicker absorption by bypassing the digestive system entirely.

Unlike oral supplements, which offer between 15-20% absorption, IV Drip Therapy delivers nutrients directly into the bloodstream. This provides 100% bioavailability for quicker, more effective results—ensuring your body gets what it needs when it needs it.

Our Immunity IV Drips are designed to aid in recovery by replenishing key nutrients that support immune function. While they’re not a replacement for medical treatment or urgent care, the Cold & Flu IV Drip, for example, can provide hydration and symptom relief to help you feel better, faster.

How Does IV Drip Therapy Help with Immunity?

IV Drip Therapy supports the immune system by restoring and boosting the body’s natural defenses, aiding recovery and building resilience. It accomplishes this in several ways:

Hydration

Did you know that our bodies are composed of around 60% water? When we become dehydrated, such as from illness, it’s essential to rehydrate quickly so our bodies can recover.

IV Drip Therapy delivers fluids, electrolytes and essential nutrients directly into the bloodstream, allowing for immediate absorption by tissues and cells. It increases blood flow volume, balances electrolytes and can make individuals feel better very quickly.

Routinely used in medical settings to rehydrate unwell and severely dehydrated individuals, this therapy is increasingly being used for health and wellness.

Immune Support When Backed by Healthy Habits

IV Drip Therapy works exceptionally well in providing immune system support, especially when backed by healthy habits. It’s well-documented that vitamins can both help prevent and reduce the severity of cold and flu symptoms,2 and immunity IV Drip Therapy is one of the best—and fastest—ways to provide your body with the vitamins that it needs effectively.

That said, IV Drip Therapy should be used to support, not replace, a balanced diet, adequate rest and hydration.

Here are some healthy habits to remember to follow:

  • Eating a nutritious, balanced diet
  • Getting regular exercise
  • Prioritizing quality sleep
  • Avoiding smoking and drinking alcohol
  • Taking precautionary steps like frequent hand-washing
  • Minimizing stress

Rapid Nutrient Delivery & Absorption

The therapy itself involves delivering an intravenous infusion directly into your vein, which allows your body to absorb the nutrients more efficiently and with 100% bioavailability, compared to 15-20% absorption when consumed orally. In addition, some of the absorption will be metabolized by the liver before reaching circulation (first-pass effect).

This speed and superior absorption help provide benefits at a much quicker rate and may play a key role in preventing and reducing the duration of colds and flu.

Antioxidant Support

Antioxidants are compounds, such as vitamins and minerals, that stop free radicals and prevent damage caused by oxidation. In other words, they protect your body’s cells and boost resistance to infections.

Studies have found that the consumption of vitamins, such as A, C and E, supports immune function and may help the body defend against infections, including respiratory tract infections like cold and flu, particularly when dietary intake is inadequate or a deficiency is present.3,4 They also prevent oxidative stress, which occurs when there is an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants, leading to cell and tissue damage.

While the body can produce some antioxidants, many need to be consumed as part of a diet or supplementation, such as Vitamins A, C, E, lycopene and flavonoids.

Key Nutrients in Immunity IV Therapy

At Restore, our extensive IV Drip Menu includes blends formulated explicitly for immune support. However, we can also customize your IV Drip or IM Shot to deliver precisely what your body needs, utilizing the nutrients below—scientifically proven to help support your immune system.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C plays a role in many bodily functions, but because it’s not naturally produced by the body, it needs to be obtained through consumption or supplementation. It’s critical for immune system support due to its potent antioxidant properties, which help protect the body from oxidative stress that can cause damage to the body’s cells and tissues.5

Vitamin C has also been found to reduce the severity of the common cold by 15-26%.6 It also works as an antihistamine and can reduce inflammation.5,7

Ask our team about the benefits of High Dose Vitamin C for a stronger effect. Available from 10 to 50g.

B Complex Vitamins

B Complex (Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6) helps convert food into energy and gives the immune system the strength it needs to stave off infections effectively.8

Specific B Vitamins also function as antioxidants that are necessary for the body to fight off free radicals. In contrast, others produce the antibodies required to recognize and neutralize germs, bacteria and viruses.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) decreases free radical damage by regenerating Glutathione, which helps boost the immune system.Vitamin B6 supports antioxidant defenses and immune function, which may help the body respond more effectively to infections like colds and flu.10

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid that plays various critical roles throughout the body, including supporting a healthy immune and nervous system.11 Whereas other amino acids help build proteins, that’s not the case with Taurine, which supports cellular defense during illnesses, such as colds and flus.

Taurine is known as a conditionally essential amino acid, which means it’s only “essential” in times of illness and stress.12 Because it’s an antioxidant, it’s a vital mineral to help protect cells from the oxidative stress and inflammation that can lead to illness and disease.11

Glutathione

Known as the “Master Antioxidant,” Glutathione has a key role in supporting a healthy immune system. It’s found in every cell in the body and is made up of three amino acids that, when combined, make up all the proteins in the body.

Glutathione supports immune cell function and reduces oxidative stress, which may help protect against cold and flu.13

Trace Elements

Trace Elements include Zinc, Copper, Selenium and Manganese and are found in small amounts in the body’s tissues. It has been shown that being deficient in any of these key minerals can result in both weakened antibody and immune responses to illnesses and diseases.14

By supplementing Trace Elements, you’re helping to strengthen the body’s antibody response, support the immune system and reduce the chances of illness and infection.15

What to Expect During an IV Immunity Drip

Before your appointment, we’ll conduct a pre-assessment, which includes a health history questionnaire and a brief consultation with a medical professional. You’ll have a chance to discuss your goals and ensure the IV Drip contains everything you need to live your best life.

Afterwards, a Registered Nurse will take your vital signs before administering your Drip. The treatment takes 60-90 minutes, during which you’re welcome to relax, read, listen to music or even work from your laptop (if you must!). You may feel a cooling sensation in your arm, and many patients feel rejuvenated immediately after, while others feel the full benefits within 24 hours.

We’d love to welcome you back for future treatments, but recommendations on frequency vary depending on nutrients.

Safety and Side Effects

At Restore, safety is our top priority. We adhere to the highest level of safety protocols, working with reputable pharmacies and registered medical professionals.

IV Drip Therapy is considered safe and effective for the majority of healthy adults. Side effects from treatment are rare and typically limited to local irritation and swelling. Other risks include bruising, infection, allergic reaction and fluid overload. However, these are incredibly rare.

IV Drip Therapy at Restore is conducted under strict supervision, which will limit any possible side effects. Your medical history and any health concerns should be discussed during your consultation.

IV Drip Therapy is not advised for pregnant or breastfeeding women, individuals with severe kidney or liver conditions, or those with uncontrolled diabetes or heart issues. Consult your healthcare provider for further guidance.

FAQs

Does IV Therapy Help With Cold and Flu?

The nutrients in our Cold & Flu Drip, including Vitamin C, have been shown to support immune function and overall wellness. IV Drip Therapy delivers these nutrients directly into the bloodstream for efficient absorption. While this Drip can help support recovery and reduce fatigue, it is not a treatment for cold or flu. Individuals experiencing severe or persistent symptoms should seek medical attention.

Is IV Therapy Safe During Pregnancy?

IV Therapy can be administered safely during pregnancy. Your Nurse will recommend the safest nutrients to address your needs and provide enhanced hydration. However, it’s always recommended that you speak with your doctor before booking an appointment.

What Is the Best IV for Flu?

Our Immunity IV Therapy Drips are designed to help boost the immune system and are best for building up defenses. Though not a cure for illness, our Cold & Flu Drip may help alleviate mild cold and flu-like symptoms by providing a range of nutrients (Vitamin C, Glutathione, Zinc, B Complex) with research-backed immune-supportive properties.

How soon should I get an IV after feeling sick?

You can receive an IV Drip as soon as you begin noticing symptoms such as fatigue, mild congestion or body aches. Early hydration and nutrient support may help your body recover more efficiently. However, if you have a fever, severe sore throat, or other significant symptoms, it’s best to consult a healthcare provider before receiving IV therapy to rule out infection or other conditions that require medical treatment.
